About the Artist
James (Jim) Thomson
James Thomson is an artist living in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. In 2021, James retired from teaching Interactive Digital Media at Kildonan-East Collegiate. During the 20 years in that position, Jim developed a few option courses into a 4 year 9 credit program in which students learned how to creatively use art and code to develop animations, films, video games and VR experiences,
In seeking to take a break from technology after retiring, James revived his 20+ year old watercolors and set to work. The results led to a popular, and successful solo show at Cre8ery Gallery in Winnipeg.
James work has a technical foundation built on degrees in Fine Art from the University of Saskatchewan, and Environmental Studies(Architecture) from the University of Manitoba. James’ work as an illustrator, production artist, and educator and his love of storytelling also influence his work, as does a lifetime of travel across the Canadian landscape.
